A few wealthy individuals lived into their 80's though.
And as superstition preceded science anything was possible and believable.

Fundamentalists come in many differing forms.
It is up to each person what they believe (IMO) and I would not be for giving that responsibility to any one else or organisation.

JW's don't come to my door anymore.
I can't think why? We used to have hours and hours of realy fascinating conversations.
It always amazed me how much they learned.
And I'm desperate for some Mormons to call because I've got loads of decorating needs doing.
