Post Today ...
There is a new critter in my life, his name is Fred!
And he is a frog!

I love frogs.
I have always loved frogs. And they have always been a part of my life.

When I was little (in Puerto Rico), there was a tree frog that found it's way to my mother's kitchen counter.
They have sticky feet so they can climb up walls.

My mother put a little dish of water on the sink, next to where the faucet was.
And the little frog would sit in the water!
He would catch flies and mosquitoes.
It was SO cute!

When I was 6 we moved to the States, Illinois, and there were creeks and puddles around our housing complex.
And there used to be tadpoles!
It felt like finding gold nuggets!

Now, as an adult, I have a frog that lives in the bush in front of my house.
Three days ago I ran into him.
He was sitting by my front door when I got home from work at 2am.
He was hunting bugs;
my daughter and son in law leave the front light on for me, and as we all know, light attracts bugs!

I started watering his bush.
I took 3 jugs of water and poured it at the base of the bush, and he went and sat in the wet soil and leaves under the bush!
I've been doing this everyday since I saw him.
My daughter named him Fred.

Today I went to Goodwill (charity shop)
and bought a flat plate and placed it by his bush, and filled it with water, after watering his plant.
We'll have to hop across it on his way to the door.
He'll enjoy the water!

I hope he is happy!
We are enjoying his presence!

As you all know, there is new family member at our place.
His name is Herman, and he is a Sulcata tortoise.

Apparently, since he is an African tortoise, he does not need water every day, but he does need water 3 times a week.

I picked him up from the young man who sold him to me on Saturday, June 18th.
Today is his third day at my house and I put him in water!

I have a big bucket-like tub, that is meant to hold ice (it's for when you have a BBQ party, and you fill it with ice and stick the beers and the soda cans in it) so it's relatively big.

I put the bucket inside the bath tub, filled the bucket with water and put Herman in the water for an hour.

It was cute to watch! He was shy at first, but then came out and was walking and trying to swim in the water.
When I fetched him to put him back in his aquarium, he was all lively and active.

Seymour, my fat Corgi, caught Herman's scent in the bathroom.
I picked up the bucket out of the tub and put it on the bathroom floor for Seymour to meet Herman.
Seymour sniffed him and was curious, Herman decided he was going to go back into his shell!

Good thing that Herman is not a hatchling, but a 5 year old tortoise. He is the size of my palm.
There is no way the dogs could accidently eat or swallow him!

It's been fun.
I've always loved turtles, tortoises and frogs!
He have Herman inside, and Fred outside!

Fred,
the frog that lives by my front door, and who now has his own swimming pool has a friend.
I went to change his water,
I tip it over every 2 days, so I do not get mosquitoes,
and when I touched the water plate, a white salamander ran from under the water plate and hid by the front bush!

It's amazing all the things that show up at your door when you offer a little bit of water to nature!

My friend Angela told me that she, too, "waters her frogs"!!!

LOL!!!

Today was doggie barber day at my house!

We sheared part of the Corgis' manes, so we could have access to their skin!
So we could apply the anti-flea medication that is transdermal.
This time I used K9 Advantix II.

It is hot weather season here, and fleas are about.
We have not had problems with ticks! Yeah!

But dogs got itchy about 2 days ago, so I figured that the previous dose of anti-flea medication had worn off.

They all have segments of fur that have been lopped off and are not stylish, but they (and the rest of us) will remain bug free!

Today is a very interesting day for me!!

My son's birthday was yesterday, and my grandson's birthday is tomorrow!

I got my son a blue crab, made of of metal. It's a figurine.
And a complete collection of different flavored cheesecakes!

He is a Cancer, and I get him a crab every birthday, since he was born.

Tomorrow is Fernando's big day!
Tomorrow he gets Herman the tortoise!

Malcolm and I are going to take him to breakfast at Ihop, the Internations House of Pancakes,
then we give him Herman and his birthday cake!
