Mohammed Ali had many quotes.
In the early bad days he walked in to a resteraunt was told they did not serve negros. He said thats okay I do not eat negros.

Any resteraunt would have been honoured to have him as guest now. I hate rascism.

We were getting worried, we had not heard from you in over a week!


My parents moved to Illinois, to go to Univ of Illinois for Graduate school in 1971.
Just after the Civil Rights movement in the US.

My parents are Puerto Rican. Both descendants of Spaniards (my mother's side Basque, my dad Sephardic Jews and Moors).
While at U of I,
they befriended Iris Sutherland, who was Jamaican.
She was in the same college as they were in, College of Education.
She was awesome, I used to call her Auntie.
She was Black.

One day all three of them went to a diner to get some dinner, after being at school all day.
They were told that she was not allowed in, that they would serve my parents but not her.
My parents were horrified,
they had never heard of anything like that!

We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that you all swear to that sometime in your lives. That is an oath. An oath breaker is worthy of the lowest of contempt.

D of I, declaration of independence!

Ok, the REAL reality of it is that it was written by rich White landowners who ALL owned slaves, who were NOT considered people at the time, but cattle. They were bought, sold, bred.

It wasn't until the whole issue of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s, that Black people in the US were granted the same legal/civil rights as White people in America.
That is the real truth.

And no, we do not have to swear an oath to the Declaration of independence. Not regular citizens.
I do not know if politicians have to.

Sorry, I thought school kids did the Pledge of Allegiance thing. And the founding fathers may have been hypocrites but they still put pen to paper. Always read the small print. Especially when you have just written it or, be careful what you wish for.
