Update on wanting to buy blue sandals!

I went on ebay, which I had never done!
And I found some very nice blue sandals,
but they were not in the "buy it now" category,
but in the bidding category.
They were not new,
they were pre-owned, and being sold by a show store.
They had been returned by a buyer who did not like them.

I wear that brand of sandals all the time, so it was right up my alley.

I'd never done this before! So I got to bid on blue sandals!
But ... there's a catch! Shipping and handling was $9.99!!!
Ouch!!!!
That meant that whatever you bid would have the $10 charge slapped on it!

Well, I gave myself a limit on the bidding, considering the instant $10 add on that would take place.

I am sad to say that I was outbid ... !

My search for blue sandals continues ...

Post Re: Things I want to do ... Update of my things
Hello my dears,

I am going to update my "things that I want to do" posts.

I said I wanted to buy a tortoise that I had seen for sale, online.
So ...

I did buy the tortoise, his name is Herman now.
He is living in my house for now, his terranium is on top of Seymour's kennel in our living room.
He is NOT 9 inches long!
He looked 9" long in the online picture!

He is 5 inches long.

Herman is my Grandson's 11th birthday present. Fernando's birthday is this month, on the 12th.
He does not Herman is at my place!

My son in law, Oza, has fallen in love with the tortoise!!
He's always interacting with him!!
It looks like I might have to find another tortoise, for someone's Christmas present ...

I started a diet 2 weeks ago.

I am eating 3 meals a day (eliminated all breads and starchy vegetables)
Coffee, fruit, cheese or an egg in the morning
Meat and salad at lunch
Meat and salad or fruits.
And lots of water.
If I am hungry I will snack on fruit, or make a salad.

So far I have lost 6 lbs (2.72 kilograms).

I also put my fat Corgi, Seymour the sausage on a diet.
He's been on it 3 weeks.
He has lost 1 lb!! (0.45 kilograms)
He's little! So that is a lot of weight for him!

It is a sensible diet, not something crazy where you starve yourself!

I will report weekly!

Update on butterfly garden.

I planted sunflowers.
Not huge ones, little ones, that do well here in Texas.
They seeds are cheap, and they grow easily!

Now I have bumble bees in the back garden!
It is SO cute!

Here it can be so dry and desert like, and you plant something with a flower on it and bees come!
Or you put out water, and the frogs and salamanders come out!

I received the flowers for butterflies in the mail, but (I did not know this) I have to put the seeds in the refrigerator!
Let them cool for a month, before I put them in water, so they will sprout.

In a month it'll be the beginning of September. It'll still be HOT.
So I will plant them and get them started inside!
And put them out in October, when the nights are cooler!

Woo hoo!
Little by little!

I have not yet joined the gym, but it is still on my bucket list!!

I am planning to join a gym!

I need to lose some weight so that I can get back into my clothes.
For the last 6 yrs I have basically and consistently had 2 jobs.

When I was in Chicago I had two full-time jobs: a 9-5 administrative job, and on top of that taught 3-4 classes which is considered a full load. I did have Saturdays and Sundays off. Towards the end I was very sick with a severe vit. D deficiency.

Then I moved to Texas and I have two part-time jobs. And I am working 7 days a week.

So I have not had time to take care of myself. =(

Here I do get sunshine everyday! That is good! Sit outside in the back garden and drink my coffee in the mornings! With the Corgi Clan.

I used to walk all the time, when I was in Illinois, even when the weather was bad, I'd bundle up.
I have thought of walking in my neighborhood,
but there are two issues:
1- it is pitch black! There are very few street lights, and although it is not unsafe over here, I do feel a little creeped out.
2- The other is the heat. When it is really hot, you have to walk either really early in the morn, or very late in the day.
So it complicates everything.

So, I stopped by the gym today, and asked about membership fees.
And looked at the machines they have.
I am interested in their stationary bikes!
And it looks like they have several.
Also,
they are open 24 hrs, which makes things easier for working out!

I could cycle even if it is hot, or raining outside! I can also go around 10pm (22:00), if I need to!

My goal is to get back to the size and weight I was before I became a sitting potato!!
And as you all know, potatoes grow sideways!!!
