A Black Ribboner is a character (or characters) in Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" novels.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Zen!!!

I think they used to be human blood drinking vampires, and they no longer drink human blood.

In Twilight, the vampires drink blood from animals.

Someone who has given up drinking human blood.
But ... they could drink animal blood.

We eat animal flesh ...!

I take it you do not want to have to break into the blood back at night, and steal some baggies!!!!

Hmmm...
Interesting, but I think the vampires need fresh liquid blood.
I am not sure, and unfortunately, I do not have anyone to ask!

The Vampires of Discworld don't actually need blood, with one exception, it is more of an alcoholic urge. Hence, Black Ribboners are members of The League of Temperance. Their sensitivity to light can cause problems. Otto Chriek, the iconographer for The Ankh-Morpork Times carries a phial of blood so that when he surprises his Salamander, to create the flash, and turns to dust, the phial breaks and he is immediately reincorporated. You can learn a lot about the myths and fables of Roundworld (this world) by reading Discworld. It is also very laugh out loud funny.

The Colour of Magic. I didn't read them when they were first published because no one I knew had read them and the covers put me off. Years later after I had moved from Glasgow to Reading I found a hard back copy of The Truth in the mess library (a table in the corner people threw their old books on). After that, I couldn't buy them quick enough. My favourite ones are about the City Watch but I like them all. It is sad that there will be no more. Apparently, Sir Terry had the parts of 10 more in various stages but left instructions that they were to be destroyed. The last two paragraphs of the last book, The Shepherds Crown, in my opinion, are his perfect epitaph.
