Did you know that Caesar Elagabalus was from Libya, or that the early Raj was free from racial prejudice for nearly a century until the missionaries arrived? Officers and troops of the East India Company often married local women, of the correct class of course. I have refused to officially define my ethnicity for a couple of decades. I do label people though. Friend or foe. I get on with pretty much anyone unless they are trying to kill me. Or misrepresent me. I do take exception to that.
