1) I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, by all that I hold sacred.

2) I swear, that the evidence I shall give, will be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, by all that I hold sacred.

Can I get a Blessed Be?

An interesting title, because none of the ones they use now are biblical (IMO).

Like I pointed out earlier, the bible says that one should not swear on the bible or anything else. However, people do not have to swear on the bible anymore and have not for years. See:- http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100107012755AAUGi86

However, those who enter Parliament have to swear an oath to the queen :- http://www.parliament.uk/about/how/elections-and-voting/swearingin/ Which is why some in the Northern Ireland have never entered Parliament in London.

The swearing on the bible comes from days when the church and state was much the same and most could not read the bible.
