Subject: REBURIAL AT STONEHENGE
Greetings all

If anyone wants to write to request that the bones of the ancestors be returned asap after being taken from Stonehenge for research by the Riverside Project of Hallam Un, Sheffield under the auspices of Mike Parker Pearson - please contact Andrew Tucker who's team will be making the decision of whether to uphold Parker Pearson's request for retention to be extended after the first two years are up in Aug 2010 to 2015.

This is because the PHd student who is carrying out the research will be on maternity leave of a year, thus moving the date of possible return to Stonehenge farther along. There is also time needed for peer review by other researchers to check the original findings.

Honouring the Ancient Dead and others are sending in objections, some using differing arguments - if you wish to add yours use these contact details - Mr Tucker would like them asap please preferably WITHIN THE NEXT FORTNIGHT [there are so many comments and objections its going to take him a while to come to a decision]:

Hi Carrie,

Whatever happened with this issue? I know it was several years ago, and i am not in the UK enough to know what is going on.

Where the bones re-burried? Or did the university keep them?

I am sure Carrie knows best but I think the university kept them.

Probably to put them in a museum exhibit.
It's weird how contemporary people feel this need to open up and "study" the burial grounds of people of the past, without remembering that he/she was a person who was buried with the intent of having them rest in peace, not to be dug up by the curious of mind.

If someone were to dig up our grandmother or our great-grandfather, we would have a major fit! But we do not seem to think that it applies to the people of the past.

I agree. They have found that people lived on the Stonehenge site around 7,000BC. Long before the stones were erected.
