 Standing Rock Sioux Pipeline protest.
I am unsure if many folk know about this in Britain, other than Pagans, but there is a protest going on in North Dakota to protect the waters of the Missouri River. Historically, this has united nearly 200 Native tribes from all over North America, including traditional enemies. The problem is not IF the pipeline will leak, but When. There have been many pipeline leaks this year, and a severe 'Fracking' earthquake in a previously stable area on Oklahoma. There are thousands of fracking wells close to the Supervolcano in Yellowstone Park also. The Yellowstone Volcano is already overdue for a massive eruption.
A Pipeline carrying oil is being driven through North Dakota into South Dakota to end in Illinois. It is coming perilously close to the Reservations and the water of the Missouri is the Water supply to not only the tribes, but also many regular towns. It has been going on since April and a couple of weekends ago Native Holy sites and cemeteries were bulldozed, on a day when the Pipeline layers were not supposed to be working. It is particularly interesting that only the day before, papers were filed by the Souix to ask for an archaeological assessment. The Bulldozers were moved 20 miles the next day, deliberately to destroy this site.
Water protectors went to stop the desecration and broke through a wire fence to do it, and were promptly set upon by security dogs with attack dogs. Six protesters were bitten by these dogs, including a pregnant woman. The police were conspicuous by their absence until afterwards. One Handler was attacked by his own dog, and many protesters were sprayed with Mace (Pepper spray).
There is much about this on the Net, if you open Facebook and put in Standing Rock Pipeline Protest, several sites will come up.The Legality of this pipeline is dubious; apparently the Tribes were not consulted about this Pipeline and wayleaves have not been properly granted.
First Nations People all over the world, including Maori and Australian Aborigines have stated their support for the protest, South American Tribes such as Aztec and Inca have joined the protest.
It has been overshadowed by the Presidential campaign, and many Americans know nothing about it.

Oh my! I am sorry to hear of this! Of course, it is not in the media news!
Things are going backwards here in the US, we have entered a time warp, going back to when we did not respect the rights of Black people and First Nations people!!
This is scary! We have always assumed that humanity will evolve for the better. You see it always in science fiction shows that take place in the future and things are solved and rosey.
But the sad reality is that history "repeats itself". Humans, most humans, do not evolve or change. They do the same things that were done in the past and many of those things are bad and harmful!!!!
