Post A history of Christianity
You will need adobe flash player to watch the full thing. The clips add up to over 4 hrs of history as told by leading theological historians.
It shows the splits with Christianity from Judaism and the many differing viewpoints from both religions. I feel it is worth a look (if only to show how todays Christianity is is born out many Christianity).

I started looking at the program. Even though I am not a Christian, I have enjoyed studying the first centuries of Christianity. It is interesting to note that those were very creative years. In my opinion they stop in the Council of Nicea where I believe Christian orthodoxy begins.

I agree. The trouble is orthodoxy largely means right with Rome rather than being right with the original diverse faith of the earliest Christianity. So much became lost due to their takeover (IMO).

the real spanish inquisition were the one of the most evil buch of people I can think of (Nazi's of their time). One of those things the church likes to sweep under the carpet.

very true again (IMO). I remember a topic on the last forum (pre being hacked) on whether people would like to be all powerful and one of the common ideas held on this forum was, that they would be against it and it would isolate them from the stimulus, support and learning from others. That is something I believe the church could learn from. To many were killed just for saying "well actually I see it differently".

I disagree with Voltaire, I say power attracts the corruptible.
