Lannah. I suspect that I may be a holofractalist. The only real thing is our consciousness. Everything else is just an illusion, a hologram. Do you know that the error correction code found in all computers is the same one discovered in the very fabric of the Universe. I endeavour to live a simple life of contemplation but my conscience won't allow me to completely walk away from the mess I have made.

Does that mean that what we interpret as the physical world is really a hologram?

It makes me think of the movie The Matrix. Or the Star Trek Next Generation show, where people had virtual lives on the holo-decks!

Many physicists are starting to think that may be the case. When you break matter down small enough there is really nothing there. Except various vibrations of energy. Reality is like the sound an orchestra makes, but we haven't yet found the orchestra.

Hindu Vedantic philosophy states that the world we perceive is Maya (illusion). We do not perceive the world as it really is; what we perceive is an illusion in our mind.

Don't they believe that the world/universe is God's dream? I thought that was a pretty image!

And we are fractals of god. Maybe.

That is in essence what the ancient Vedic Rishis (sages) used to say. In today's modern language and understanding, we could use other interpretations.

How would we explain it today? Or how would they explain it?

The world-- some modern sages say today -- is an illusion formed in our mind.

If the world were to be an illusion of our mind, and we really do not exist as coporeal beings, then it really would be the equivalent of living in The Matrix, like the movie.
It is a horrifying thought!!!
