Post Nine Days of Worship of the Divine Mother
Today many Hindus begin a nine day worship of God as Divine Mother. In the Sanatana Veda Dharma, God is viewed in different aspect. It is said that God is both Mother and Father. In reality God has no gender, but in our human understanding we tend to view God with human qualities. In the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, God -- in the form of Sri Bhagavan Krishna -- says: "I am the Father and Mother of this universe" (Guita 9:17).

It can be found in the Bible too:-
Genesis 1:27
“Humankind was created as God's reflection: in the divine image God created them; female and male, God made them."

Sadly there are those who deny the femininity of God and only argue the Masculinity.

Ba'al and Ishtar aka et al (Yaweh & Ashara) are the male and female. The sperm of the Heavenly Bull impregnating Mother Earth.(Meteorites).
There was a political reason why the feminine was suppressed.Which I can't just bring to mind at the moment.Well I am on holiday (hic!).
Whereas the Is just is.Nothing to do with the above at all. This isn't reality. It's just where we express it.

I came in contact with the Mother or Femenine side of God through the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa (1836-1886) and Sri Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952).

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa was the famous priest to Mother Kali in Dakshineshwar, India. He was also the Guru of Sri Swami Vivekanand (1863–1902) who became the first Hindu missionary to the West and one of the modern reformers of Hinduism.

Sri Paramahansa Yogananda came to the United States in 1920 and established what could be called a Christo-Hindu church (Self-Realization Fellowship) that has been very successful. He was also the author of the now spiritual classic "Autobiography of a Yogi".
