Post Belief and Dogma (IMO)
Belief and Dogma. (IMO)
Belief is based on what you personally believe. Dogma is based upon that which is dictated that you must believe.
Beliefs can change according to each person's journey and personal experience. Dogma expects everyone to change to it.
Beliefs allow people to make further discoveries. Dogma insists that all the necessary discoveries have already been made and it is the result of those discoveries.
Beliefs recognise the beliefs of others. Dogma insists they all should be the same.
Beliefs are open to development. Dogma is largely static.
Beliefs are usually considerate of the importance of the personhood of others. Dogma places the importance of doctrine before that of people.
Beliefs recognise truths in other viewpoints. Dogma insists it is the only truth.
Beliefs can be considered right or wrong or just a person's experience. Dogma always insists it is right and justified.
Beliefs are justified by a person's experience. Dogma is justified by the dictates of organised religion.
Beliefs are the rivers that flows through a person's life. Dogma is the elephant placed in the china shop and destroyer of freedoms.

I have to agree with the view of "Belief and Dogma" as presented by Pete. We have to have freedom to change.
