 Scripture thoughts
Many don't realise the bible is not a book. It's a collection of writings, put together to the exclusion of other writings over centuries, altered by scribes, and debated on over years. Even the order of the books are not in chronological order. Yet, some say it is the word of god and others it is the word of men about a god. Some parts are considered inspiring and other parts are filled with horror. The point is you can take from it what you will but to never question anything is I believe is an error. The more one studies how the book came about the more questions that arise. There is a Buddhist saying of beware the man who has just one book. I believe it''s the inability to question anything as with any religious book that leads to an imbalanced view of things. I look at the night sky and I am seeing stars many light years away and most which we cannot or never see. The idea that it's all about us on this minute speck of dust in a near infinite universe is difficult to visualise no matter what any book has to say. Yet, each to their own. I believe there is a spirit of love in the world and a spirit unloved. We often fail at both. We need more than ourselves and that is not always available in this life. The church invented hell and Judgement. Jesus was a Jew and they do not believe in either. What we have today is an invention of Paul and a church asserting power by threats of damnation for which only it could so say save you from their invention. If you seek love for others then who can fault you even if you fail. For even of a Divine being existed how can there be Judgement for not being helped because such a being must know that we can only fail without them and no person has that continued support and so we fail. We can see no divine being, nor hear its voice, and therefore we are all alone in this life. So how can a person be judged for not comprehending a belief. So hold no one in judgement and call no one unclean. We are human and as such whether we believe or not we will often fail and often succeed. That is the nature of things. So do not dwell on your failings or they will stop you seeing your successes. Strive for love for it is that love that is our only hope and not judgemental texts in bronze age books. Good people will agree with this or disagree. That is up to the person. I hold them to nothing and nor do I demand that they agree with these ramblings of an old man.
