The Reverent Spong died today. So sad. He did much to build bridges between differing religions and beliefs. He also wrote many books undermining religious fundamentalism. I had much respect for him. He often described his faith as encouraging him to be the most loving human he possibly could be and felt fundamentalism has missed the point with its love of dogma and collected writings from diverse scripts. He once said the bible is not worthy of being called the word of God. I will miss him.
