Do people use or support food banks?
I support my local coop who collects for food banks. I find it painful that such charities need to exist.

Great Mark. It is being highlighted again after Ken Loach's last film "I Daniel Blake" which gives a true picture as to how heartless things are getting. I feel it is a good thing for people to get involved with food banks. The big issue guy up the road from me has again been made homeless because of delays in his benefits. He now sleeps with the rats behind the supermarket. It is sheltered by a roof with no walls, but very cold. The idea this is happening is horrible in the UK.

My daughter has used them. There was a collection outside my local supermarket in Vendays Montalivet on Saturday. I gave them a bag of groceries.

Our local Church supports them throughout the year but at Lent makes a big push that instead of saying we are going to give up something for Lent that we instead give up food/and some shopping for Lent. I like this concept and it works or at least works in our congregation. As for I Daniel Blake, fantastic film that really does indeed highlight the reality manny are facing in today welfare system and those who are underpaid or underemployed.

It's very sad and a real-world problem that many face or nearly face.

Countries around the world should do more to assist but I think the people are an afterthought.
