I think we are more likely to get an elected monarch before that.

Vikings used to do this.
They used to elect their "king" and the title was not hereditary.
The "king" was chosen by a council of elders/important men; it was not a democratic-type election.
Worked quite well, for the monarch would be someone deemed brave and worthy, rather than someone's kid.
The system eventually unraveled, because men did want to pass the power baton down to their kin.

The Vikings (pirates), Norse, Northmen , Danes, did not have kings as such until late on in their history. The Angles/Saxons/Jutes established this system of rule with the king being elected by the witan quite early on in their conquest of most of Romano Briton. There is a legend that King Arthur will return during the time of this countries darkest hour (invented in medieval times). Well he has left it a bit late because he was Romano British i.e Welsh. So he would have been fighting the Anglo Saxons i.e the English. If you can work out who the hell they are these days, well, the best of luck. Oh yes, the current monarch can, in principle, although there might be one or two bones in the closet, and by a very circuitous route, trace her lineage back to Alfred the Great who was a rubbish cook. Apparently. And may have suffered from crones disease.

Interesting.
But, I will say, muttness is more the state of the human race.

There are some who say that man did not domesticate wolves but that wolves domesticated man.

My dream job is to write children's books. I can write and draw, so I will do my own illustrations.

I LOVE dogs.

Therefore, I am going to write a series of children's books called:
"The Day We Stopped Being Wolves".

It will have a science base, for the evolution of wolves into dogs, but each book will have a primitive family.
And the children of the fictional family will be the ones to come in contact with the dogs.
The dogs will be after the leftover food, of course.
And the dogs will look like a cross between jackals and Corgis!

I've always told my kids and my students: we should celebrate our muttness!

Way back in the dark days of the Soviet Empire they experimented with this concept. They discovered that it takes just seven generations to turn a wolf into a dog. They took the meekest of the litter and kept breeding the meekest. Seven generations later they got a dog that was to all intents and purposes, a dog. The dark side however, the worst of the worst, they had to shoot.

They had to shoot the pups?

Do you know if there were aggressive dogs that came out of the litters of Meek Mom and Meek Dad?

That would be interesting to read about!

Seven generations of doggie life is not that long. About 7 years.

Meek wolves bred meek dogs. Ferocious wolves bred even more ferocious wolves. They nearly destroyed their cages. You can probably find it on the interweb if you have a curious mind like me. And the time to waste. What you probably don't want to know about is the transplant monkey head experiment. But it might come in useful one day. To late for Christopher Reeve.

I definitely do NOT want to know about the transplanted monkey head.
Too gruesome!

The wolves thing makes sense.
When one breeds dogs, or mixes breeds, this is one thing to look out for!

We have Corgis.
Both our Pembrokes come from the same breeder.
Seymour is 6 years old and Daisy is 2 years old.
Daisy is Seymour's niece.
And the hilarious thing is that it is almost like having the same dog twice!
Mimi, Daisy's mom, is Seymour's sister.

They have very strong personalities, are very smart, want to be alpha dog and they are both big babies. Seymour is mine and he is a mamma's boy.
Loves me to pieces and does not understand that I did not give birth to him and that he is not a human boy.
Daisy is the same with my daughter.
She LOVES Gabi to pieces and sticks to her like glue.
They are both terrified of water, are both food dominant, and other little things.

The other Corigs are Cardigans/Cardies, and they too all come from the same breeder.
They are sweet, mild mannered, crazy in silly ways:
(Toby steals all sorts of small things and eats them, holds them in his mouth, pretending he doesn't have anything. Zoe steals socks and plays with them in the back garden throwing them around like they are balls)
they are not scared of water
(right now our back garden is flooded, about 13 cms) and Zoe layed down in the cold water.
Garfy goes in after her, like he's a sea otter, or something.
These are not as "smart" as Seymour and Daisy, but they are so sweet and loving and it is also almost like having multiple replicas of the same dog!
Toby is 11, Zoe is 5 and Garfy is 3, and they are not directly related to each other, like Seymour and Daisy, but they are cousins.

The traits that carry over are very distinct and very strong!
